I've particularly appreciated the fact that from the outset you have the whole software package available without constantly needing to purchase extra 'modules'. As our business has grown, we have been able to increase our use of Optix with full confidence in the system and it's ability to effortlessly handle what we expect of it.

We are in our tenth year as a user of Optix and quite simply it has become the cornerstone of our practice! it is simple to use, quick to respond, robust and reliable. Having used four different software systems over several years working for other practices I had a fair idea what I wanted and did not want for my new practice. I had a list of my needs and what I wanted from a computer system. Something that I did not have to add expensive modules on to when I Read more decided I needed them or could afford them but a management system that would do everything I wanted to from the start. A computer system that helped me make sense of the information I was gathering and that did not make my life difficult. A company that respected me as a user and did not patronise me as if I did not know what I was talking about.
I did all the research and there was no contest, Optix definitely ticked the most boxes by a long way. - it was the clear winner and in the end the obvious and natural choice. Everyone gets the whole system for one price and it is regularly upgraded with input to developments and improvements from the users. It is an intuitive system and having trained staff on other software that I realised was particularly valuable. The learning curve is eased by the subtle familiarity of the screen layout.
BI - so much useful information that we are learning how to make work for us as we explore it further. Reports we think we need, did not realise we needed and may one day need.
Support - I cannot say enough in praise of the support team. The best thing is we do not have to phone them too often as problems are not a big feature of our weekly routine. We are reassured, however, that they are always there and so when we do stupid things, or even if the computer does it, they are gracious and helpful and get it sorted.
For those who like computers there is lots to explore, for those who see them as a necessary evil there is a simpler functionality that will appeal.
You are supposed to learn something new every day and Optix continues to teach us daily so we can gradually aspire to exploiting its full potential, which is immense.

Optix has provided us with a comprehensive, stable system that fits together in such a way that we have felt able to embrace most areas that the system has to offer us - diary, patient records, paperless testing, recall, till management, reporting, dispensing, stock control and order management. Our staff found it quite organic to use so it slotted into our patient journey easily - including pre screening diary management for multiple Optoms. Where we have needed support, Optix staff have been available quickly, been very patient with us, and remained solution focussed no matter how challenging our requests may have been!
Trevor and his team have always been very amenable to new ideas, but without making false promises that have either not been delivered or been unreliable in their execution.
It is a true reflection of the engagement of the Company that Optix provide an unmoderated forum for users, where we can share best practice and ideas, as well as openly discuss changes that we feel would be of benefit.
I would certainly encourage potential customers to look at Optix - no system can be perfect for everyone but this is certainly the best fit for us.

We have been running our small market town practice through Optix software for 7 months now and use as much of the system as we can: diary, patient recall, GOS forms, all till transactions, all our clinical records, all contact lens and spectacle dispensing records, direct debits and utilize the Read more extensive reports available within the Optix Business Intelligence programme. We have no regrets switching from another software provider and enjoy the efficient and friendly back-up facilities provided by the Optix team on the rare(!) occasions that we have found ourselves needing assistance to operate the system. In particular the templates that we have requested within the communications function allow us to smoothly process onward referrals within the NHS, in addition to LES and LVA records and communications which saves much time and keeps these communications within the patient record.
As we enter our 25th year in practice, I feel for the first time that I am fully in control of all aspects of my business, thanks to the tools available to me through Optix and look forward to the next 25 years.

Compared to other software management systems used (Optisoft, Iris and briefly See2020), for us, the package is by far the most comprehensive and secure without having to worry about modules, backups or upgrades. The system works well and even when you think it is working effectively, through the Read more forward thinking and common sense approach of the MD, Trevor, as well as the knowledgeable feedback from the growing Optix community, it only gets better and better. The last major update saw a cost effective and time saving solution to our recall letters and patient communications.
In fact, I would wholeheartedly recommend Optix purely on their service levels alone. The support team have never failed to respond to any queries or training issues and are able to communicate with you whatever the level of your computer skills. It's hard to know whether it is wonderful recruitment or just great training but they all seem to have the patience of saints. Many thanks for supporting our practice.
